Multicultural Tea Party

March 20, 2021

The Marlborough Multicultural Tea Party held on Saturday 20 March was a great success! What a way to kick start Neighbours Day Aotearoa and celebrate Race Relations Day! Approximately 100 people came along to make new friends and meet their local community. We enjoyed delicious sandwiches, sushi, cake and fruit, washed down with teas from around the world. Believe us when we say the Indian sweet tea and the Japanese lime tea were delicious and so refreshing!

Backyard gardeners enjoyed swapping home grown produce with one another too. There were carrots and apples, plants and seeds, all sorts of fruit and veg, a treasure trove of goodies shared with love! We certainly witnessed neighbourhoods growing stronger together.

Charlotte said that it was her pleasure to organise the event alongside Deb Dalliessi, manager of the Marlborough Multicultural Centre and Trudy Langford, community activator at Red Cross. The sandwiches were made by the team at Crossroadsand the Salvation Army kindly allowed access to their facilities. What an amazing collaboration of local support organisations, coming together for the good of the community. It certainly was an event “for all of us, mo tātou katoa!”
